Common Problems
Here are some common problems I've had with EMO and how to fix them.
If EMO is behaving strangely or something isn't working properly, the paperclip reboot method is worth trying first. It can fix many temporary bugs and strange behaviours.
EMO is acting weird / something isn't working properly
Fix:
Try using the paperclip method to reboot EMO.
Press the appropriate hole on the top of his head
with a paperclip to reboot him. This can fix many
temporary software or behaviour issues.
EMO isn't charging!
Fix:
Place EMO on the skateboard and make sure his feet
are aligned with the charging icon on the skateboard.
Also make sure the USB-C cable is connected.
EMO isn't working in general
Fix:
Use a paperclip to press one of the two holes in the
centre of the top of his head. One reboots and one
force powers off. Once he is powered off, place him
back on his charger.
EMO has a black screen / appears dead
Fix:
If EMO's battery is completely drained, he may appear
to be completely dead. Place him on his skateboard and
leave him charging for a while. Make sure his feet are
aligned with the charging icon.
If he still doesn't respond, try the paperclip reboot method.
If he still doesn't respond, try the paperclip reboot method.
EMO still won't charge
Fix:
Try using a different USB-C cable or wall adapter.
Also try a different power outlet. Make sure EMO's
feet are aligned with the charging icon on the
skateboard.
EMO can't hear me!
Fix:
Try changing the sensitivity slider in the
preference settings on the app.
EMO doesn't respond to being petted
Fix:
Try changing where and how you touch EMO. If he still
doesn't respond, try the paperclip reboot method as
this can sometimes fix temporary issues.
EMO displays an error code!
Fix:
Follow the paperclip method to reboot EMO. If the
error code persists, this may be due to a corrupt SD
card. Contact LivingAI support at
service@living.ai
for help.
Still having problems?
If none of the fixes above work, it may be worth contacting LivingAI support. When contacting support, providing a photo or video of the problem and EMO's information can help them diagnose the issue.
